2022 FIFA World Cup Predictions – Matches 33, 34, 35, and 36

It’s hard to believe that we’re already through half of the matches of the World Cup, with the condensed fixture (four games per day, rather than the usual three) meaning that we’ve crammed two matches for all 32 teams in the first nine days of the tournament. Despite all of the problems, though, FIFA’s organisers have been blessed by a surprisingly even tournament – only three teams have already sealed qualification, every group has at least one spot up for grabs, and many of the 16 upcoming games can be read as “winner takes all”.

2022 FIFA World Cup Predictions – Matches 2, 3, and 4

Proving that money makes whores of us all, the political tensions of the Qatar World Cup are increasing by the day. Plans from several European countries – most notably England, who play in today’s first game – to wear a ‘One Love’, pro-LGBT captain’s armband have been squashed after FIFA’s threats to give an instantaneous yellow card to anyone who attempts to wear it. Far be it from high-profile football nations to do any meaningful statement if it detracts from the game itself, but we roll on.
