W-League Predictions – Round 4, 2021

Canberra weren’t able to keep up a perfect record, with Brisbane giving them a fight in a 1-1 draw that probably should have gone the way of the Roar. Sydney and Adelaide both got victories, in each case proving too strong for Newcastle and Perth respectively, but the real shock was the Melbourne derby – hastily moved from Dandenong to Fawkner, no fewer than six Victory players scored, including an absolute stunner from Lisa de Vanna, to comprehensively defeat Melbourne City.

That 6-0 result had by far the biggest impact on our ratings, especially considering that it replaced a 0-4 win from last season. The Victory are now moved up to the #1 rated team overall, with the best offense and second best defense (behind Sydney FC), and are tipped to finish second, just above their crosstown rivals in fourth.

Our tips for this week include: Perth to win a mystery home game against Adelaide that we haven’t been able to figure out where it fits with our season fixturing, Sydney for a derby win after the men’s match, a change for City to redeem themselves that they probably won’t take, and Brisbane tipped to break their run of draws by beating Newcastle away.
