After a lengthy gap that’s seemed to sap all interest (part of why they should start the season during the school year, and finish it before it gets back), the second-last game of the MBBL – and last that’s likely to be played – kicks off in Melbourne tonight. On the one side, we’ve got the Sydney Thunder, who scraped into the finals by the skin of their teeth and have gotten two away wins straight, needing one more for a Derby final.
On the other hand, we have the Melbourne Stars, who’ve lost four games in a row – the equal-second longest streak in their history – and have gone from being the universally accepted favourites to struggling for a spot in the final. We tip them to get there, but their shoddy form has been tanking our reliability lately.
