Soccer Predictions – 2019 EAFF E-1 Football Championship, Matches 5 & 6

We fixed up our soccer spreadsheet after finding out that we weren’t properly incorporating new results. The problems of doing everything in Google Sheets, we guess? That said, our predictions are complete and ready for the final matches of the EAFF Championship.

Not many players can score a hat-trick in any international. Doing it on debut definitely marks you down.

South Korea kept themselves in touch with a 1-0 win over China, but Japan are in the box seat thanks to a 5-0 victory over Hong Kong (including a Koki Ogawa hat-trick on debut). In the match between those two sides tonight, the Samurai Blue need at least a draw to retain the title they lost in 2017 – fittingly, also against South Korea.

Our system, newly rebuilt, tips the game to be close, but we give Japan the ascendancy, having a 65% chance of winning or drawing to claim victory.
