2022 World Cup Qualifiers – AFC Second Round, Matchday 6

The perils of small sample sizes – and our irrational dislike of Kuwait – reared up again. Thanks to a 9-0 win over Chinese Taipei (an impressive one with eight goalscorers, even if one of them was an own goal), the Kuwaitis now have the most impressive offensive rating in the AFC by far. They’ve scored 16 goals in 5 games when they’ve only been tipped to score 11, enough to give them an offensive rating of +0.0113 goals/minute.

Unsurprisingly, they’re tipped to get an easy victory against Nepal tonight, and they’ll be helped by the fact that it’s in neutral ground in Bhutan. Indeed, barely any of the games on are particularly close – with the exception of Yemen v Singapore, the closest prediction we’ve had so far.
