BBL Elo Ratings – Match 1

So, by now you’re likely familiar with my Big Bash League Elo ratings – if you’re not, then here’s a link to the explanatory post.

This is what we’ve been waiting for with it – ahead of each matchday, the plan is that I’ll send out a blog post, much like this one, with the Elo predictions for the upcoming games, as well as the ratings and projected table.

So tonight, BBL|07 starts with a Sydney derby, as the last season did. While it’s unlikely we’ll see Andre Russell’s black bat again, the Elo ratings predict that the Sydney Sixers are set to win, although it is pretty close.

And indeed, looking at the predicted table, this game could be crucial to either side’s finals hopes. In such a close season, early wins will be crucial.
