WBBL|06 Predictions – Round 5

We finally got (most of) a game day in on Sunday, with only one game being abandoned! The three winning teams all had great boosts to their chances – the Thunder got an upset victory over the sketchy-looking Brisbane Heat, the Sixers comfortably beat the Renegades in a contest that wouldn’t have been as close without an impressive Georgia Wareham innings, and the Stars finally got a result from their season, beating Hobart.

WBBL wrap: Knight shines as Thunder storm to big win | cricket.com.au
The Sydney Thunder were one of the big winners from Sunday, both literally and in long-term predictions.

Indeed, the last weekend has shaken things up a lot, and the ratings definitely show it. Brisbane are no longer clear in front as the number one team (and, if they lose to the Sixers tomorrow, will lose their #1 status), and the rest of the competition is spacing out from each other. Watch, as trends continue, for the two Melbourne teams to swap places.

Looking ahead to the rest of the season, the expected wins are keeping things fresh. Both Sydney teams have a few wins banked, and so are good chances of finishing first and second (the Thunder even have a ~90% chance of making the top four). The Heat’s high rating is helpful for them, too, meaning that we can split the chances into four teams for the most part: Heat, Sixers, Thunder, and the slight favourites [somebody else].
